Apple's gotta do the AI thing, but I think it has to be much more careful about it than its fellow tech companies.

@ismh86 Seems to me Apple *is* being much more careful than its peers
@ismh86 To be fair, Siri as is would totally make that same mistake.
@ismh86 I have said it before and I will say it it again,
iPhoneOS 4’s “Voice Control” feature was more reliable that Siri has ever been.
Apple can either say, “we are introducing a new On-Device only Siri, which is only compatible with new hardware” or they can say, “the Siri experiment has failed, Cloud-based AI is not ready for consumer use, we are reintroducing ‘Voice Command’.”
@ismh86 All extant "AI" technologies are fundamentally flawed and will probably never be useful enough to offset shortcomings. http://www.shindoisshin.com/blog/chatgpt
They’re *always* randomly wrong, but sometimes they’re only a tiny bit wrong and you can do something with the output.
Apple may be pushed by public perception and market forces into adopting some form of it, but I think it’s a long-term trap. There will almost certainly be some future PR nightmare caused by "AI", no matter how careful they are.
